Recording + Verifying Your Work Placement

Edited

Your Work Placement Logbook provides a formal record of the activities you complete throughout your postgraduate studies.

Keeping this record accurate and up to date is an important part of your Work Placement. It allows you to track your progress and provides Pilates ITC with the information and evidence required to verify that your Work Placement requirements have been met.

Record your Work Placement as you go

Record your Work Placement activities as you complete them, rather than attempting to reconstruct your activities towards the end of your course.

This helps ensure your records are accurate and that any required verification or supporting evidence can be obtained while it is readily available.

For each activity, follow the requirements outlined within your Work Placement Logbook and the relevant Work Placement guidance in your Student Knowledge Base Library.

Verifying your Work Placement activities

Different Work Placement activities may require different forms of verification.

Depending on the activity and how it was completed, verification may be provided by:

  • your Lead Educator;

  • the Instructor delivering or supervising an activity;

  • a Client you have taught;

  • you, where self-verification is permitted; or

  • other appropriate evidence as specified within your Work Placement requirements.

Your Work Placement Logbook determines the verification requirements for each activity, so always refer to the relevant section before relying on an activity towards your required Work Placement hours.

Keep supporting evidence where required

Some Work Placement activities may be completed without your Lead Educator or another appropriate person being physically present.

Where permitted, supporting evidence may be used to assist with verification. Depending on the activity, this might include:

  • Studio booking records;

  • teaching rosters or timesheets;

  • online class registrations or attendance records; or

  • other appropriate evidence of participation or completion.

Keep any required supporting evidence securely and accessibly as you progress through your course.

Verification will depend on the activity

The way your Work Placement is verified will vary depending on whether you are completing Advanced Teaching Practice, Advanced Observation or Self-Mastery.

Refer to the relevant Work Placement guidance for more information about each activity:

  • About Advanced Teaching

  • About Advanced Observation

  • About Advanced Self-Mastery

These articles explain the different ways each activity can be completed and who may verify your participation.

Your Lead Educator + Work Placement verification

Your Lead Educator is responsible for making the final judgement that your Work Placement requirements have been successfully completed.

For Students completing their pathway through the Blended study mode, Personalised Supervision Meetings provide opportunities for your Lead Educator to review your Work Placement progress, discuss your experiences and provide cumulative indirect supervision as you move through your course.

Keeping your Logbook and supporting evidence current allows these conversations to focus meaningfully on your professional learning and progress.

Not sure if an activity will count?

If you are unsure whether a planned activity meets your Work Placement requirements, check before relying on it towards your required hours.

Start by reviewing:

  1. your Work Placement Specs;

  2. the relevant Work Placement guidance in your Student Knowledge Base Library; and

  3. the requirements within your Work Placement Logbook.

If you're still unsure, contact Ask an Educator at askaneducator@pilatesitc.edu.au for guidance.

It's always easier to clarify a requirement before completing an activity than to discover later that it cannot be counted towards your Work Placement.
