Work Placement Logbook FAQs

Edited

Your Work Placement Logbook is designed to help you progressively record and evidence your Work Placement activities throughout your postgraduate studies.

Below you'll find answers to some of the most common questions about accessing, completing and managing your Logbook.

Where do I find my Work Placement Logbook?

Your Work Placement Logbook is located within the Assessment section of your LMS, alongside the assessment information relevant to your course or pathway.

Always access your Logbook from your LMS to ensure you are working from the correct document for your studies.

Where are the instructions for completing my Logbook?

Training on how to complete your Work Placement Logbook is provided within the Completing Your Work Placement Logbooks lesson in your Postgraduate Work Placement module.

We recommend completing this training before you begin recording your Work Placement and returning to it whenever you need a refresher.

When should I start recording my Work Placement?

Start recording your Work Placement as soon as you begin completing eligible activities.

Your Work Placement is designed to progress alongside your coursework and professional practice, so don't wait until the end of your course to complete your Logbook.

Recording activities as you go also makes it much easier to obtain any required verification and retain supporting evidence.

Can my existing professional teaching count towards my Work Placement?

Yes. As an existing Pilates teacher, your professional teaching environment can be used to complete your Advanced Teaching Practice where the teaching activities meet the requirements of your course or pathway.

Work Placement at postgraduate level is deliberately designed to allow you to apply your developing knowledge and skills within the professional work you are already doing.

Refer to About Advanced Teaching and your Work Placement Specs for further guidance.

Do I need to find a separate Work Placement Studio?

Not necessarily.

Most postgraduate Students can complete their Advanced Teaching Practice within their existing workplace or professional teaching environment.

You may choose to access another appropriate Studio where it provides a useful opportunity for Teaching Practice, Observation or Self-Mastery, but you do not need to relocate your professional practice simply to complete Work Placement.

Who can verify my Work Placement hours?

This depends on the activity you are completing and how it was undertaken.

Depending on the requirements, verification may be provided by your Lead Educator, an Instructor, a Client or you, or supported by other appropriate evidence.

Refer to your Work Placement Logbook and the relevant Teaching, Observation or Self-Mastery guidance in the KBL for the verification requirements that apply to each activity.

Can I verify my own Work Placement activities?

For some activities, yes.

Self-verification is permitted where specified by the relevant Work Placement requirements — for example, certain activities completed independently through approved digital resources.

Do not assume that every Work Placement activity can be self-verified. Always follow the requirements within your Work Placement Logbook.

What evidence should I keep?

Where supporting evidence is required, this may include records such as Studio bookings, teaching rosters or timesheets, online class registrations or other appropriate evidence of participation or completion.

Keep any required evidence securely and accessibly until your Work Placement has been completed and verified.

What if I forgot to have an activity verified?

Don't recreate, alter or ask someone to verify an activity they cannot reasonably confirm.

Review the verification requirements within your Work Placement Logbook and determine whether appropriate supporting evidence is available.

If you are unsure whether the activity can still be verified, contact Ask an Educator for guidance.

What if I'm not sure whether an activity will count?

Check before relying on the activity towards your required Work Placement hours.

Review your:

  • Work Placement Specs;

  • relevant Work Placement guidance in the Student Knowledge Base Library; and

  • Work Placement Logbook requirements.

If you're still unsure, contact Ask an Educator before proceeding.

Do I need to submit my Logbook as I go?

Follow the assessment and submission instructions provided within the Assessment section of your LMS for your particular course or pathway.

Even where your Logbook isn't submitted progressively, you should still keep it updated throughout your course.

I'm completing the Online study mode. Do I still complete Work Placement?

Yes. Work Placement remains part of your course or pathway requirements regardless of study mode.

Students completing the Online study mode complete their Work Placement within their professional environment and use the available Work Placement guidance, LMS training and Educator support as required.

Personalised Supervision Meetings are specific to the Blended study mode and are therefore not part of the Online study mode.

I'm completing the Blended study mode. Will my Lead Educator review my progress?

Yes. Your scheduled Personalised Supervision Meetings (PSMs) provide opportunities to discuss your Work Placement experiences and progress with your Lead Educator.

Keeping your Logbook current will help you make the most of these meetings and allows your Lead Educator to progressively review your Work Placement as part of the indirect supervision process.

Where should I go if I still need help?

For questions about how to complete your Logbook, revisit the Completing Your Work Placement Logbooks training within your Postgraduate Work Placement module.

For information about Work Placement requirements and processes, use the Work Placement section of your Student Knowledge Base Library.

If you still need individual guidance, contact Ask an Educator at askaneducator@pilatesitc.edu.au.
