General Workplace Etiquette

Edited

WP etiquette is about more than ensuring you’re a good guest on the job. To achieve competency in your Course or Pathway, you are required to demonstrate professional conduct and communication in the workplace. So, when you are completing your WP activities, consider:

PRESENTATION

You are expected to wear the Pilates ITC Student t-shirt for all WP sessions. This is about transparency, so Studio Management, Instructors, and their clients are aware you are a guest onsite.

Always defer to your WP Studio’s in-house standards for dress, but as a minimum, Pilates ITC expects you to:

  • Wear your Pilates ITC Student t-shirt for Teaching and Observation activities.

  • Dress in clean, professional-looking active wear: leggings or modest/appropriate shorts – mid-thigh or longer: no booty shorts!

  • Closed toe shoes (sneakers), or grip socks.

  • No strong smelling/pungent perfume/deodorant: this can detract from the client experience.

Note: you are required to wear your Pilates ITC t-shirt for Work Placement activities, Assessment, Course Delivery sessions and Teaching Clinics - not Self-Mastery.

HONOUR YOUR SCHEDULE

If you are unable - or anticipate you’ll be unable - to attend a scheduled WP booking, please provide your host with a minimum of 24-hours’ notice for cancellation.

This creates opportunities for other Students to slot in and allows the Studio time to notify their Instructor(s) of the change.

BE FLEXIBLE

Studios can only accommodate so many Students per class or session for Obs or CI. Forward planning is important, as is flexibility if your preferred day and time is unavailable.

RESPECT

Students are expected to conduct themselves professionally in the Studio environment and demonstrate respect not only for the client experience, but also be respectful of the Studio apparatus and facilities. Studio apparatus is expensive!

Make sure you understand and adhere to your IT or WPS’ in-house Studio Care policies; and as a minimum - follow instruction when using the apparatus and clean down and pack away all equipment used.

Aka, be a good guest and leave the Studio in the same condition or better than when you found it!
