Instructor Training Studios (ITS)

Edited

Purpose

Pilates ITC's Instructor Training Studios (ITS) provide professional Studio environments for in-person learning, practical training and assessment across our undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

How you use an Instructor Training Studio will depend on your course, pathway and study mode.

For undergraduate Students, particularly those studying in the Blended study mode, your ITS is an important home base for scheduled Course Delivery, Teaching Clinics, Practical Assessments and eligible Work Placement activities.

For postgraduate Students, your existing professional teaching environment remains the primary setting for your Work Placement. Instructor Training Studios provide additional opportunities for eligible in-person learning, Observation, Teaching Practice, Self-Mastery and other scheduled postgraduate activities where applicable.

Who This Article Applies To

This article applies to current and prospective Pilates ITC Students who may access an Instructor Training Studio as part of their course or pathway.

Your use of an ITS will depend on your course requirements, study mode, location and the activities available at the Studio.

Instructor Training Studios for Undergraduate Students

If you're studying an undergraduate course in the Blended study mode, your Instructor Training Studio provides the professional environment for many of your scheduled in-person learning experiences.

Depending on your course and timetable, you may attend your ITS for:

  • Course Delivery Days – hands-on learning with Pilates ITC Educators and your fellow Students;

  • Teaching Clinics – structured opportunities to develop and practise your teaching;

  • Practical Assessments – scheduled assessment of your developing professional capabilities;

  • Work Placement – eligible Observation and Teaching Practice activities;

  • Self-Mastery – opportunities to experience and practise the Pilates Method; and

  • connection with Educators, Students and the wider Pilates community.

Your timetable and LMS will identify the scheduled activities that form part of your enrolment.

Instructor Training Studios may also provide additional Work Placement opportunities outside your scheduled training. Always check the requirements for your particular course and make the appropriate arrangements before attending a Studio for Work Placement.

Instructor Training Studios for Postgraduate Students

Postgraduate learning works a little differently.

As a qualified Pilates teacher, your existing professional teaching environment is the primary setting for your postgraduate Work Placement. This allows you to apply your developing advanced knowledge and skills directly within your regular professional practice and with your own Clients.

You therefore do not need to complete your postgraduate Work Placement at an Instructor Training Studio.

However, Pilates ITC's Instructor Training Studios can provide valuable additional opportunities to connect with the wider Pilates ITC learning environment.

Depending on your course, location and availability, an ITS may be used for eligible activities such as:

  • Advanced Observation;

  • Advanced Teaching Practice;

  • Advanced Self-Mastery;

  • scheduled in-person postgraduate learning where applicable;

  • approved Private Tuition; and

  • an in-person Practical Assessment where specifically requested and arranged.

Access to an Instructor Training Studio for postgraduate activities is not automatic and may depend on the activity, Studio availability, scheduling and prior arrangements.

Your Course Training Plan, LMS and Student Knowledge Base Library will identify the learning and Work Placement requirements relevant to your postgraduate course or Advanced Pathway.

Work Placement at an Instructor Training Studio

The role of Instructor Training Studios within Work Placement differs according to your level of study.

Undergraduate Students are encouraged to gain meaningful in-Studio experience through Pilates ITC Instructor Training Studios and approved Work Placement Studios. This exposure to professional Studio environments, experienced Instructors and real-world teaching is an important part of developing your professional capabilities.

Postgraduate Students ordinarily complete eligible Advanced Teaching Practice within their existing professional teaching environment. You may choose to access an Instructor Training Studio for additional eligible Work Placement activities where available, but this is not required simply because you are completing postgraduate Work Placement.

For postgraduate Advanced Observation, up to 100% may also be completed through the Pilates ITC Digital Studio, although in-Studio Observation can provide valuable additional professional learning where accessible.

Finding an Instructor Training Studio

Pilates ITC works with Instructor Training Studios across Australia and New Zealand.

You can view our current Studio locations and details on the Pilates ITC Instructor Training Studios page.

Studio locations and available activities may change, so always refer to the website and your current course information rather than relying on a previous timetable or Studio arrangement.

Before Attending a Studio

If an Instructor Training Studio activity forms part of your scheduled course delivery, follow the information provided in your Student Portal, LMS or Course Training Plan, as applicable.

If you're hoping to use an ITS for an additional Work Placement, Self-Mastery, Private Tuition or other activity outside your scheduled training, make sure the activity is eligible for your course and that the appropriate arrangements have been made before attending.

For questions about whether an activity can contribute towards your learning or Work Placement requirements, use Ask an Educator.

For questions about Studio access, bookings, scheduling or other administrative arrangements, contact Student Support.
