About Advanced Diploma Work Placement

Edited

The Advanced Diploma is designed for qualified Pilates teachers with established professional experience who are ready to deepen their knowledge, refine their teaching practice and develop advanced professional capabilities.

Work Placement at postgraduate level

Work Placement is completed within your existing professional teaching environment, integrating your postgraduate learning directly into the work you are already doing.

Rather than being separate from your professional practice, Work Placement asks you to use that practice as an active learning environment — intentionally applying new knowledge, repertoire, concepts and approaches as you progress through your course.

Through Work Placement, you will have opportunities to apply, observe, explore and reflect, progressively consolidating the advanced capabilities relevant to your course or pathway.

Your Work Placement activities

Depending on the requirements of your course or pathway, your Work Placement may include:

  1. Teaching Practice — intentionally applying and integrating your developing postgraduate knowledge and skills within your professional teaching practice.

  2. Observation — observing practice relevant to your area of learning and using these experiences to deepen your understanding, reflection and professional development.

  3. Self-Mastery — undertaking purposeful self-directed practice to explore and consolidate relevant repertoire, movement concepts and advanced learning.

Your specific Work Placement requirements, including the activities and hours required for your course or pathway, are outlined in your Work Placement Specs.

Recording your Work Placement

Your Work Placement isn't simply about accumulating hours. Your Logbooks provide a record of how you have engaged with and applied your learning throughout your professional practice.

Your Work Placement Logbooks are located in the Assessment section of your LMS, and training on how to complete them is provided within your Postgraduate Work Placement module.

For ongoing guidance about Work Placement requirements and processes, refer to the Work Placement section of your Student Knowledge Base Library.
