Key Definitions
The following terms are used throughout your postgraduate Work Placement information and resources.
Client: A person you teach as part of your Work Placement activities. At postgraduate level, Clients may include paying clients you teach within your existing professional practice, as well as friends, family members or other Students, where appropriate to the activity being completed.
Lead Educator: Your Lead Educator provides oversight of your Work Placement and is responsible for making the final judgement that your Work Placement requirements have been successfully completed.
For Students completing their pathway through the Blended study mode, this includes indirect supervision through scheduled Personalised Supervision Meetings (PSMs), where Work Placement progress, experiences and application of learning can be discussed and reviewed.
Personalised Supervision Meetings (PSMs): Scheduled 20-minute online meetings available as part of the Blended study mode, dedicated specifically to Work Placement.
PSMs provide an opportunity to review your progress and Logbook evidence, reflect on your Work Placement experiences, seek feedback, troubleshoot challenges and discuss how you are applying your postgraduate learning within professional practice.
Indirect Supervision: A model of supervision in which your Lead Educator provides oversight, guidance and final verification of your Work Placement without being physically present during your teaching or other Work Placement activities.
Indirect supervision may draw on your documented Work Placement activities, reflective discussion, supporting evidence and, for Blended students, scheduled Personalised Supervision Meetings. This allows you to complete Work Placement with appropriate professional autonomy while remaining accountable to the requirements and learning outcomes of your course or pathway.
Work Placement Logbooks: The formal record used to document completion of your required Work Placement activities and provide evidence that the relevant requirements have been met. Where required, activities must be verified by an appropriate third party.
Your Work Placement Logbooks are available from the Assessment section of your LMS.
