What is the role of a Work Placement Supervisor?
A supervisor at a work placement studio plays a vital role in supporting Pilates ITC students as they gain practical teaching experience. The supervisor ensures that students work safely and effectively by providing guidance, oversight, and feedback throughout the placement. They act as a mentor, helping students develop their teaching skills, maintain professional standards, and deliver safe Pilates sessions to clients. Supervisors may be physically present in the studio or accessible remotely, depending on the nature of supervision required. This role is crucial for maintaining a high-quality learning environment and upholding safety for students, clients, and the studio.
Direct Supervision.
Direct supervision generally means a qualified instructor is physically present with the student during the class or session, observing and able to immediately intervene or provide guidance as required.
The supervisor has continuous oversight of all activities and is available on-site to monitor technique, safety, and client interactions.
Indirect Supervision.
Indirect supervision means the supervisor is not physically in the room but remains accessible, such as via video link or being onsite but not in the immediate class area.
The supervisor may check in periodically or provide remote guidance but is not constantly observing every action in real time.
