Assessment Policy
Purpose
At Pilates ITC, we’re committed to helping you achieve competency through assessment practices that are clear, equitable, and grounded in industry expectations. This policy outlines the types of assessments we use and the principles that guide them, ensuring they reflect best practice and comply with ASQA guidelines and the Standards for RTOs 2025. Our aim is to support you to succeed—through practical, accessible, and fair evaluation processes that are embedded across your training experience.
Definitions
Assessment – The process of collecting evidence to determine whether you’ve achieved the required competency outcomes
Teaching Hours Log Book – A structured record where you log your activities and hours completed during Work Placement
Work Placement Studio (WPS) – A Pilates studio affiliated with Pilates ITC where you undertake supervised practical assessments

You, as a student enrolled into a course with Pilates ITC
Educators and Assessors involved in the delivery and assessment of your training
Management responsible for maintaining the quality and compliance of our assessment processes
Our Policy
Types of Assessment
Online Knowledge Quizzes – Accessed via the Learning Management System (LMS) to assess theoretical understanding
Written Assessments – Include essays, case studies, and short-answer responses to evaluate conceptual knowledge
Practical Assessments – Conducted in studio settings to assess hands-on competencies; may include verbal questioning
Work Placement Assessments – Based on logged teaching hours and demonstrated skills at an affiliated Work Placement Studio (WPS)
Principles of Assessment
All assessments conducted at Pilates ITC follow these principles:
Fairness
Your individual needs are considered, and you’ll receive reasonable adjustments if applicable
We’ll ensure you understand your rights and responsibilities before each assessment
Flexibility
We consider your learning style and any relevant prior experience when conducting assessments
Validity
The evidence you provide must clearly demonstrate your ability to meet specific competency standards
Reliability
Assessments are consistently marked, so outcomes are fair no matter who assesses your work
Assessment Process
Online Knowledge Quizzes Delivered progressively via the LMS to reinforce learning throughout your course
Written Assessments Scheduled during your training to capture your grasp of course content and apply critical thinking
Practical Assessments Facilitated in structured environments, where your practical and verbal responses are evaluated against standards
Work Placement Assessments You’ll log hours and learning experiences during Work Placement using your Teaching Hours Log Book, which supports your final assessment
Your Responsibilities as a Student
You're expected to:
Prepare Review your LMS content and assessment briefs carefully ahead of each task
Submit on Time Complete and submit each task by the due dates provided
Fulfil Placement Hours Complete required hours at a Work Placement Studio (WPS) and record them accurately
Communicate Let Student Support know if you require reasonable adjustments or have special circumstances impacting your progress
If you believe your assessment outcome is unfair or inaccurate, you're encouraged to raise a concern through our Complaints and Appeals Policy. We’re here to ensure you feel heard and supported.
Responsibilities of Educators and Assessors
Our team is responsible for:
Ensuring Consistency Applying the same standards to all student assessments to maintain fairness
Providing Feedback Giving you constructive, helpful feedback in a timely manner
Keeping Records Documenting all assessment outcomes in accordance with Clause 1.8 of the Standards for RTOs 2025
