Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

Edited

Purpose

At Pilates ITC, we’re excited about how technology can support your learning—but we also want to make sure it’s used responsibly. This policy outlines how AI tools can be used to assist with academic work, and the boundaries that ensure your learning remains meaningful, authentic, and aligned with the Standards for RTOs 2025, ASQA guidelines, and intellectual property laws.

Definitions

  • AI Tools – Any software or platform that generates or assists with written, visual, or spoken academic content using artificial intelligence (e.g., ChatGPT, Grammarly, language models)

  • Academic Work – Assessments, assignments, projects, or study materials submitted as part of your coursework

  • Disclosure – A clear statement by the student acknowledging the use of an AI tool and how it contributed to the work

Who This Policy Applies To

  • All students enrolled in Pilates ITC qualifications

  • Any academic work submitted for assessment

  • Any AI tools used for generating, researching, or formatting content related to your training

Our Policy

Responsible Use of AI Tools

Pilates ITC supports your use of AI tools when used ethically and transparently. To maintain academic integrity:

  • AI-generated content must be clearly referenced

  • You must disclose if an AI tool helped shape your work

  • Content must still reflect your own understanding, not just what AI tools produce

Acceptable Uses of AI Tools

AI can be useful when used to:

  • Brainstorm ideas for assessments

  • Summarise complex concepts to support your study

  • Suggest research sources or reference materials

  • Help build flashcards, templates, or study frameworks

Unacceptable Uses of AI Tools

You must not use AI tools to:

  • Copy and paste generated responses into your work without major edits or personalisation

  • Have AI tools complete full assessments or manage task outcomes

  • Submit content you haven't verified, reviewed, or understood

  • Use AI tools to “replace” learning when struggling—reach out to your educator or the Student Support Team instead

Disclosure and Referencing

  • Clearly state which AI tools were used, how they contributed, and what was generated

  • If you used AI to draft, brainstorm, or generate initial ideas, include a short note in your submission stating:

    • The name of the tool

    • The question or prompt used

    • Which content you adapted or revised

  • Include this as a footnote or in the reference section (e.g., “ChatGPT was used to summarise definitions for Section 2. Prompt: ‘Summarise key concepts in injury prevention for Pilates instructors.’”)

Consequences of Misuse

Failure to follow these guidelines may result in disciplinary action, such as:

  • First breach – Formal warning

  • Second breach – Mark deduction for the assessment

  • Significant or repeated breaches – Failing grade or possible expulsion depending on severity

These actions support the integrity of our learning community and uphold the standards we’re all working toward.
