Private Tuition Policy & Procedure

Private Tuition is available to both undergraduate and postgraduate Students and can be tailored to your level of study, learning goals and individual needs.

As an undergraduate Student, you might use Private Tuition to revisit missed content, strengthen your understanding of repertoire or theory, build confidence with practical skills or receive additional individual guidance.

As a postgraduate Student, Private Tuition provides an opportunity to explore your advanced learning in greater depth — whether through repertoire, Self-Mastery, programming, movement concepts, teaching strategies or the application of your coursework within your existing professional practice.

Private Tuition is an optional, additional paid service and does not replace the learning, supervision, support or assessment requirements included within your course.

• Private Tuition: An optional, paid 1:1 appointment with a Pilates ITC Educator outside of the scheduled learning and support services included within your course. Sessions may be held in person or via Zoom.

• Course Delivery Day Recap: Private Tuition used by an undergraduate Student to revisit content from a missed Course Delivery day. A minimum three-hour booking applies.

• Educator: A Pilates ITC Educator approved to provide Private Tuition relevant to the Student's level and area of study.

• Lead Educator: The Educator responsible for structured oversight and final judgement of postgraduate Work Placement. A Lead Educator may also provide separately booked Private Tuition.

• Self-Mastery: Purposeful Pilates practice undertaken to experience, explore and consolidate repertoire, movement concepts and course learning within your own body.

• Personalised Supervision Meeting (PSM): A scheduled 20-minute online meeting included for postgraduate Students in the Blended study mode. PSMs are specifically for Work Placement supervision, reflection and progress and are separate from Private Tuition.

• Ask an Educator: Pilates ITC's service for ad hoc learning, coursework, assessment and Work Placement questions. Ask an Educator is included as part of your Student support and should generally be used where you have a specific question rather than requiring dedicated 1:1 tuition.

• Student Support: Pilates ITC's administrative support service for matters such as enrolment, fees, scheduling, LMS access, technical support and other course administration.

• Student Portal Schedule: Your scheduled course activities as displayed within your Student Portal.

This policy applies to current Pilates ITC Students undertaking:

• an undergraduate course or pathway;

• the 11333NAT Advanced Diploma of the Pilates Method;

• an associated postgraduate Advanced Pathway; or

• another Pilates ITC course for which Private Tuition is available.

Private Tuition is designed for situations where you would benefit from dedicated, individualised teaching time with an Educator.

It provides more time and depth than an ad hoc learning question and allows the session to be tailored specifically to the areas you would like to explore or develop.

As an undergraduate Student, you might choose Private Tuition to:

• revisit learning from a missed Course Delivery day;

• spend additional time developing repertoire or practical skills;

• strengthen your understanding of theory or course concepts;

• build confidence with Teaching Practice or Self-Mastery;

• consolidate an area of learning you have found challenging;

• prepare more confidently for upcoming learning or assessment; or

• work more deeply on an area where you would benefit from individual guidance.

If Private Tuition is being used to recap a missed Course Delivery day, a minimum booking of three hours applies.

As a postgraduate Student, you're already a qualified Pilates teacher. Private Tuition therefore provides an opportunity to deepen and extend your existing professional knowledge and capability through dedicated individual time with an experienced Educator.

You might choose Private Tuition to:

• explore advanced repertoire in greater depth;

• refine technique through guided Self-Mastery;

• work through advanced movement concepts or theory;

• explore programming, sequencing, cueing or teaching strategies;

• consolidate learning from your postgraduate coursework;

• explore the application of new concepts within your existing professional teaching;

• work through an area where you would value more individualised feedback or practical exploration; or

• focus on a particular area of professional development relevant to your studies.

Your Educator can provide individualised teaching, feedback and guidance while supporting you to continue developing your own advanced professional reasoning.

Postgraduate Private Tuition is not limited to your Lead Educator.

You can request Private Tuition with:

• your Lead Educator, where you would value additional dedicated learning time with the Educator already familiar with your postgraduate learning and Work Placement journey; or

• another appropriately experienced senior-level Pilates ITC Educator, where you would prefer another perspective, a particular area of expertise or simply wish to work with another member of our Educator team.

This means that while your Lead Educator is not your point of contact for ad hoc questions between scheduled Personalised Supervision Meetings, you can absolutely choose to work with them through a separately booked Private Tuition session.

Equally, there is no expectation that Private Tuition must be undertaken with your Lead Educator. At postgraduate level, working with different experienced Educators can provide valuable perspectives and opportunities to explore your practice in different ways.

If you have a preferred Educator, let Student Support know when submitting your request. We will do our best to accommodate your preference, subject to Educator availability, location and the nature of the tuition you're seeking.

Private Tuition is an additional paid service and is different from the support already available as part of your course.

Understanding the role of each support avenue can help you choose the right service for what you need.

If you have an ad hoc learning question, Ask an Educator should generally be your first point of contact.

This includes questions about coursework, assessments, repertoire, theory, Work Placement requirements or applying your learning within Teaching Practice.

You don't need to purchase Private Tuition simply to have a learning question answered.

If your question is administrative rather than educational, Student Support is your go-to.

This includes matters relating to enrolment, fees, course administration, bookings, scheduling, LMS access, technical support and other administrative aspects of your studies.

For postgraduate Students completing the Blended study mode, your scheduled Personalised Supervision Meetings with your Lead Educator have a specific purpose.

PSMs are dedicated to Work Placement supervision, reflection, progress and professional development. They are not intended to operate as additional Private Tuition sessions or as the avenue for ad hoc questions between meetings.

If you would like additional dedicated learning time with your Lead Educator beyond the scope of your PSMs, you can request a separately booked Private Tuition session with them.

Private Tuition is the right option when your needs go beyond a specific question and you would benefit from dedicated, extended 1:1 teaching, coaching, practical exploration or individualised feedback.

A simple way to think about it is:

Private Tuition provides individualised teaching and guidance, but it does not change the assessment or course requirements that apply to you.

• teach and explore relevant course concepts with you;

• provide individual feedback on repertoire and practical skills;

• help you deepen your understanding;

• guide practical exploration and Self-Mastery;

• explore programming, teaching strategies and professional application;

• help you connect theory with practical application; and

• support the development of your confidence and professional reasoning.

• provide answers to assessment tasks for you;

• complete programming, written responses or other assessed work on your behalf;

• pre-assess an entire assessment or guarantee that it will be marked satisfactory;

• replace a required Practical Assessment;

• replace required Work Placement activities, supervision or verification;

• replace a required postgraduate PSM;

• make assessment decisions outside the formal assessment process; or

• provide medical, diagnostic or other advice outside the Educator's professional scope.

For postgraduate Students in particular, Private Tuition is designed to support the continued development of your advanced professional reasoning, rather than replace your responsibility for making appropriate professional decisions within your own practice.

You'll be asked to provide information including:

• the purpose of the session and what you'd like to work on;

• your preferred dates and times;

• whether you would prefer an in-person or Zoom session; and

• for postgraduate Students, whether you have a preference to work with your Lead Educator or another appropriately experienced Educator.

Providing clear information about your goals helps us identify the most appropriate Educator and structure for your session.

Once we receive your request, payment will be required before we proceed with booking. Our team will then coordinate an appropriate Educator, timing and, where required, venue.

Please note:

• Private Tuition is subject to Educator and venue availability.

• Educators and Studios are often committed to scheduled training events on weekends, so Private Tuition will generally be arranged on weekdays or around existing training events where appropriate.

• Sessions typically run for 1–3 hours.

• A Course Delivery Day Recap requires a minimum three-hour booking.

• Private Tuition may be shared with another Student where appropriate; however, the same hourly rate applies to each Student.

• Requests for a particular Educator will be accommodated wherever possible but cannot be guaranteed.

Once your Educator, date, time and venue or Zoom arrangement have been confirmed, we'll send you confirmation and update your Student Portal schedule where applicable.

To get the most from your Private Tuition, come prepared with a clear idea of what you would like to achieve.

Consider the specific repertoire, concepts, practical skills or areas of professional application you'd like to explore. The more clearly you can identify your goals, the more effectively your Educator can tailor the session to you.

For postgraduate Students, this is particularly valuable. Private Tuition is an opportunity to bring your existing professional experience together with your developing postgraduate knowledge and use the session to explore areas that are most relevant to your own practice and professional development.
