Declaration of Own Work Policy
Purpose
At Pilates ITC, we believe in the importance of integrity and honesty in everything you create and submit. This Declaration of Own Work Policy ensures that you're supported to meet expectations around submitting your own work, and outlines the process you’ll follow to declare your submissions. It also ensures compliance with ASQA guidelines and the Standards for RTOs 2025.
Definitions
Academic Integrity: Acting with honesty, fairness, and responsibility in all aspects of your learning and assessment.
Original Work: Content that is entirely your own, not copied, plagiarised, or created by another person or AI without disclosure.
Declaration of Own Work: A signed statement confirming that the work submitted is your own and meets Pilates ITC’s assessment expectations.
AI (Artificial Intelligence) Tools: Any digital tools, including AI-generated content, used to assist with the completion of your assessments.
Who This Policy Applies To
This policy applies to:
You, if you're enrolled as a domestic or international Student in a Diploma or Advanced Diploma qualification at Pilates ITC.
Our Educators and Assessors responsible for reviewing your assessments and ensuring compliance.
Our Management team, who oversee implementation and manage policy breaches.
Our Policy
We require that:
All work you submit must be your own original effort.
Any form of plagiarism, cheating, or submission of non-original work is not accepted.
If you use AI tools, you must follow our AI Policy and clearly declare any use in your submission.
Procedure
Declaration Process
Written Declaration You must include a signed Declaration of Own Work cover page at the start of every assignment.
This must be part of the same document file as the assignment itself.
Assignments submitted without this declaration will not be accepted.
Submission Requirements
You must sign and date your declaration upon submission through the LMS or email.
By signing, you confirm that:
The work is entirely your own.
Any collaboration or AI assistance is appropriately disclosed.
All sources are accurately cited.
Record Keeping
You must retain a copy of your submitted work and supporting research materials.
Pilates ITC securely stores all assessments and declarations in line with Clause 1.8 – Standards for RTOs 2025.
Monitoring and Enforcement
Assessors’ Role Our Assessors review each submission for originality and authenticity
If they identify suspected plagiarism or non-compliance, they may validate using specialised AI validation tools and will escalate the matter to the Training Manager immediately.
AI Usage
You must follow our AI Policy.
Undeclared or inappropriate use of AI tools will be treated as a breach of this policy.
Disciplinary Action Breaches of this policy may lead to:
Revision and resubmission of the assessment.
A formal warning, noted on your student profile.
In serious cases, termination of your enrolment under the Complaints and Appeals Policy.
