Drugs and Alcohol Policy
Purpose
At Pilates ITC, your health, safety, and wellbeing are paramount. This Drug and Alcohol Policy outlines what’s expected when it comes to substance use, what happens in cases of non-compliance, and how you can access support. It aligns with the Standards for RTOs 2025, ASQA guidelines, and the principles found in the Student Handbook.
Definitions
Substance Use: Includes alcohol, illicit drugs, prescription medications, and over-the-counter medications.
Impairment: Reduced ability to participate safely due to the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Student Support Team: Your dedicated support contacts at Pilates ITC for guidance, referrals, and wellbeing support.
Who This Policy Applies To
This policy applies to:
All Students enrolled at Pilates ITC.
All Pilates ITC premises, including training facilities, work placements, and events.
Our Commitments
We are dedicated to:
Ensuring the safety and well-being of all Students, Staff, and visitors.
Promoting responsible behaviour and minimising risks associated with drug and alcohol use.
Providing access to support services for Students who may need help with substance-related issues.
Expectations and Prohibited Conduct
Prohibited Conduct
You must not attend training, assessments, or work placements under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The possession, use, or distribution of illegal drugs on any Pilates ITC premises or during Pilates ITC-related activities is strictly prohibited.
Alcohol consumption is prohibited on Pilates ITC premises, Instructor Studios, and Work Placement Studios unless formally approved for specific events. Note: Students and Educators are prohibited from conducting Pilates or movement experiences while under the influence.
Prescription and Over-the-Counter Medications
If you’re taking prescribed or over-the-counter medications, please ensure they don’t impair your ability to participate safely in training or assessments.
If you have concerns, we encourage you to speak confidentially with the Student Support Team.
Consequences of Non-Compliance
Immediate Action
If you're found in breach of this policy, you may be asked to leave the premises or learning activity immediately.
Serious breaches may result in suspension or cancellation of your enrolment.
Disciplinary Measures
Policy breaches will be addressed under the Our Student Code of Practice.
Disciplinary action may include a formal warning, suspension, or cancellation of your enrolment (note: full course fees would still be payable).
Illegal activity will be reported to the appropriate authorities.
Support Services
Access to Support
You have access to confidential support services at Pilates ITC to help with substance-related concerns.
You are strongly encouraged to seek guidance from our Student Support Team or connect with trusted external services.
Referral to External Services
If needed, Pilates ITC can refer you to external counselling or rehabilitation services to support your wellbeing.
