Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Policy

 Purpose

At Pilates ITC, your health, safety, and wellbeing are our top priority. This policy outlines how safe and supportive environments are maintained across course delivery, Teaching Clinic days, and Work Placement. It reflects our commitment to Work Health and Safety (WHS) under Australian legislation, ASQA guidelines, and the Standards for RTOs 2025.


Definitions

  • Work Health and Safety (WHS): Legislative and organisational practices that ensure the physical, psychological, and environmental safety of all individuals in the learning and work environment.

  • Course Delivery and Teaching Clinics: In-person training and assessment sessions facilitated by Pilates ITC Staff and Educators.

  • Work Placement: Practical, supervised learning conducted at an affiliated Pilates studio.

  • Emergency Procedures: Documented actions to take in the event of a fire, natural disaster, injury, or other critical incident.


Who This Policy Applies To

This policy applies to:

  • Pilates ITC Staff and Educators during course delivery, Teaching Clinics, and while operating in studio environments

  • You, if you're a student participating in Work Placement

  • Pilates ITC management and affiliates responsible for maintaining workplace safety and compliance


Safe Learning Environments

At Pilates ITC, we’re committed to:

  • Providing safe spaces during Course Delivery and Teaching Clinics, including the use of all studio apparatus

  • Ensuring Work Placement studios meet WHS expectations through risk assessments; obtaining disclosure of up to date emergency procedures; obtaining evidence of Certificate of Currency for Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance.

  • Helping you understand and meet your own responsibilities in relation to workplace health and safety

  • Meeting all obligations under WHS legislation and regulatory requirements


Staff and Educator Responsibilities

Our Staff and Educators play an important role in WHS. They are responsible for:

  • Conducting risk assessments to identify and address potential hazards in delivery and studio settings

  • Maintaining equipment and ensuring the safety of all apparatus used in your training

  • Requesting affiliated Work Placement studios to provide:

    • Documented emergency evacuation procedures

    • Current Certificates of Currency for Professional Indemnity and Public Liability

  • Ensuring consistent compliance with the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Policy.


Your Responsibilities as a Student

You’re an important part of our WHS culture. When participating in your course or Work Placement, please:

  • Learn the emergency procedures at your Work Placement site

  • Follow the Our Team Code of Practice and general WHS standards

  • Report any hazards, injuries, or unsafe practices without delay

  • Take reasonable care for your own wellbeing—and that of others—while completing training or assessment

  • Use all equipment responsibly and as instructed


Reporting WHS Incidents

Immediate Reporting

If you notice a safety concern or experience an incident, please report it immediately to one of the following, depending on where you are:

  • The Educator present at your Course Delivery or Teaching Clinic

  • The supervisor at your Work Placement studio

  • The Student Support Team at 📧 administration@pilatesitc.edu.au

Incident Review

When a report is received, the Pilates ITC Management Team will:

  • Investigate the matter promptly

  • Address and resolve any identified safety issues

  • Communicate actions and outcomes with relevant parties

  • Notify WHS regulators of serious incidents if legally required
